Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. Gets “Schooled” in March
The month of March was a whirlwind of training here at Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. Kicking off the training blitz was our trip to Parker Hannifin’s facility in Ravenna, Ohio, March 12 - 16, 2007. This trip included Outside Sales Representative Tom Bolger, Inside Sales Representative Scott Harding, and Marketing Manager Andrea Truini (that’s me!). Over the course of the week we learned about the products in the Parflex division, we did a hands-on practical “Crimp & Field Attachable Connections” and completed HP Certification (for hydraulics). We also had a tour of the Parker facility. There were a lot of interesting things about the tour but the most amazing thing we saw was the bundling of an off-shore hose. This hose was on a reel that was approximately 20 feet wide and at least 10 feet tall. The hose itself was a bundle of 60 individual hoses that were then sealed together inside the hose cover.
On March 20, 2007 Calvin Riley, Kim Hoffman and Brian Luke ran a training session at Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. about the products they represent for St. Gobain. Products discussed included thermal management products for electronics as well as gasketing and bonding tapes for the transportation market. St. Gobain has both polyurethane bonding tapes as well as acrylic bonding tapes. The Noremount(R) Acrylic tapes are particularly interesting because due to the strength of the acrylic adhesive the tape has been used to replace rivets in various applications.
March 21, 2007 Tom Bolger, Andrea Truini, Inside Sales Manager Frank McKee, Sales Manager Andrew Chase went to Garlock in Palmyra, NY for a tour of their facility and a day of training with Tim Hurley, Sr. Product Manager. We were able to compress a gasket as well as see some of the testing that Garlock does on their products and to their competitors’ products. Some of the products we discussed included our old favorite Blue-Gard(R), new favorite Multi-Swell(TM) in addition to a new product - the Gylon Bio-Lock(TM) Gasket. The Bio-Lock(TM) Gasket has beend designed for hygenic applications such as food and beverage production. This is particularly beneficial for the wineries that Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. is currently working with.
Just missing the month of March, Andy Nardone from The Rogers Corporation came to Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. on April 2, 2007. Mr. Nardone presented product information which focused on the mass transit industry. During this training we revisited products that we currently sell such as the BF-1000 silicone foam but we also were introduced to some newer products such as the HT-200. HT-200 is a Sound Block Silicone that has been designed to reduce the transmission of sound within interior spaces while maintaining the smoke and flame resistant properties required by the railcar industry.
Needless to say everyone here at Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. is feeling very well informed. We have appreciated everyone who provided us with the training we received adn there was been a lot of activity and excitment to get these products out to our customers!
Until next time,
Andrea Truini
Marketing Manager
