Visit To Alstom - February 25, 2008
Friday, February 29th, 2008You may have noticed that I missed posting this weeks GlobalSpec product of the week. For this I deeply apologize. On the up side the reason that I didn’t get our product posted is that we went to visit our friend Tony Palmeire at Alstom in Hornell, NY.
Tony was kind enough to give us a tour of the shops where the railcars are assembled. We were able to see the new cars being built in addition to the area where cars are being refurbished. This was a truly remarkable experience. To see the work that goes into the construction of each car is truly a sight to behold. It was also great to see our railcar products in their intended applications. There were numerous window and door seals and we saw a number of products waiting to be installed into cars that have been encased with insulation provided by Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc. and we even got to see one man applying squeak tape sold by - you guessed it - Chamberlin Rubber Company, Inc.!
Another highlight of our visit was the safety gear that they had us wear - bright yellow “bump” hats and bright yellow toe-covers for Sam and I - Scott had protective shoes already so he missed out on the toe-covers. As always, I took a picture for your enjoyment.
I promise to post a Product of the Week next week.
HAPPY LEAP DAY!!
